WE WANT TO THANK EVERYONE WHO WAS THERE FOR THE HONOUR YOU SHOWED BY STANDING TO WISH US FAREWELL AND I COULDN'T SEE THAT HAPPENING AT THE TIME SO I'M FILLING UP NOW AS I TYPE. THE ANSWER IS I'M PARTIALLY SIGHTED NOT COMPLETLY BLIND AND ALTHOUGH I CAN FALL OVER SOMETHING RIGHT IN FRONT OF ME I CAN SEE QUITE A WAY IN THE DISTANCE. I ALSO HAVE HAD TO RELY A LOT ON OTHERS ESPECIALLY MY WIFE TO POINT OUT WHAT I DON'T SEE. SO, WHY RETIRE? WELL MY HEALTH APART FROM EYESIGHT IS NOT GOOD AND HASN'T BEEN FOR MANY YEARS WITH OSTEOPOROSIS AND BRONCHIAL ASTHMA BEING JUST TWO OF THE PROBS AND OLD AGE DOESN'T IMPROVE THEM. SO WHY HAVE I CARRIED ON FOR SO LONG? WELL IT AINT FOR THE MONEY COS WE NEVER GOT NONE AND WE RECKON IT COST US AROUND £3,00.00 A YEAR TO BE INVOLVED IN TRAINING AND THAT PROB APPLIES TO LOADS OF OTHER TRAINERS AND TROUP PRINCIPLES. WE CARRIED ON FOR SO LONG BECAUSE 1/ WE'RE TOLD WE'RE GOOD AT IT AND THE RESULTS HAVE SHOWN IT AND 2/ PEOPLE KEEP ASKING FOR HELP. THE TRADITION OF 'HANGING UP YOUR HAT' OR MORE CORRECTLY LEAVING YOU HAT ON THE COMPETION ARENA WAS JUST A WAY OF ANNOUNCING A BAND MEMBERS RETIREMENT WAY BACK IN THE DAYS WHEN WE TRAINED A 44 MEMBER BRASS MARCHING BAND. WE HAVE KNOWN MANY WHO HAVE DONE THIS FOR THEIR OWN REASONS BUT ALSO MANY WHO HAVE COME BACK AS THE FAMILY GREW. THE SIGNIFICANT THING IS THAT ALTHOUGH THEY RETIRED FROM COMPETING THEY ALWAYS THOUGHT OF THEMSELVES AS BAND OR MAJORETTE MEMBERS AND WE KNOW OF ADULTS WHO CAN STILL SHOW THEIR OLD UNIFORM AND PHOTO'S FROM THE EIGHTIES CAN YOU BELEIVE. I KNOW THIS IS GOING ON BUT WE TRYING TO PUT 30 YRS WORTH ON HERE AND IT'LL NEVER BE ABLE TO SHOW THE HALF OF IT. WE WOULD JUST LIKE TO ADD THIS THOUGHT. BOYS START RUGBY OR FOOTBALL AND FIND THAT THEY HAVE SPONSORSHIP OF FREE STRIPS AND TRAVEL EXPENCES SO WHY IS THESE GIRLS WHO ARE BRILL AT THEIR SPORT FIND IT SO HARD TO RAISE ANY MONEY AT ALL AND BASICALLY RELY ON THE BANK OF MUM AND DAD TO JUST EXIST. I DON'T KNOW AND NEVER HAVE OF ANY TROUPE WHERE THE PEOPLE THAT DO ALL THE ORGANISING AND OR TRAINING GET ANY MONEYTRY GAIN WHATSOEVER AND EVEN IF WE ALL HAD SPONSORSHIP I DON'T THINK THERE WOULD BE MANY WHO WOULD EXPECT IT TO BE FOR ANYONE EXCEPT THE TROUPE.FINNALLY, DO WE HAVE ANY REGRETS? WELL YES MANY BUT THE MAIN ONE IS THAT WE DIDN'T START IT EARLIER AND THAT'S WHY WE HAVE ALWAYS TRIED TO ENCOURAGE YOUNGSTERS TO CONSIDER LEARNING TO BE A TRAINER OR JUDGE. BOTH THESE SKILLS ARE NOT SUITED TO EVERYONE BUT I'M GLAD TO SAY THAT WE HAVE BEEN SUCCESSFUL MANY TIMES AND DOING THIS AND SOME ARE STILL DOING IT NOW. Firstly, I would just like to say "What a lovely message from Vic & Fran". Everyone will miss you so so much esp all the Dancers/Organisers/Mums & Dads at Crystal Lights.

Secondly, "Well Done" to ALL troupes dancers who danced yesterday at the All England Championships. The atmosphere was fantastic and everyone supported each other, which is great to see. The standard from each section is getting better at every competition. Keep up the FAB work girls & boys.

Hi to all the troupes in gbbta is there anyone who can help us. Ealier this year we lost our baton trainer and are now finding it difficult to train the girls new twirls as all our trainers have no baton twirling experiance. If there is anyone who would be willing to come to our training sessions this would be much appreciated. we are based in Sheffield and train on a wed evening 6-8pm or we can make it a weekend if that is easier. well just over 2 weeks left till wer down in filey, ill just b glad to hav a drink lol, iv been trainin up to 5 times a week so b nice to let my hair down in the club at nitetime, good luck to everyone who is attendin. special good luck to all my little angels at lbt lol. guys im really proud of u no matter wot, uv worked so hard so much trainin and im just impressed by wot u hav c learnt since april. im out of baton moves lol. and a big shout out to nicole from my junior section who has been helpin out with the tinies section well dun hun. also to the junior section as there trainer is away to florida for 5 months so iv takin over that section so im tryin to remember the dance now as well as thw other 6 dances iv made up lol , a big thank u to adeline for all her hard work in pom. also to all my committee who has helped me out to do these xtra trainin sessions etc... so thank u to jane , julie, jean, lesley f, jacqui,sharon,janice,andrea. jean for makin the uniforms, julie for doin music and jane for all thehard work u do. also a big well dun to nicola for all the hard work she put into juniors before she left for florida. all the kids miss u nic and there goin to mak u proud ,

Hope we all enjoyed the weekend?

My 1st weekend working the GBBTA and I enjoyed it from start to finish the stranded was high from Babies to Seniors from Poms to Military Freestyle, Saturday was good day and the Junior Section who were Arena 2 were amazing the show you put was just fab!!

Well Done to all the winners and to everyone who took part in what was an amazing weekend away, my hat goes off to the Judges who for some were on the floor from 8.15 till 3.00 and officials who again made the weekend happen and to Mr Albert Orme for creating this fantastic association in 2007 and bringing many troupes from all over the U.K together for a compertion with 16 hours of non - stop dancing on just one day. This was PHENOMENAL to see troupes that I haven’t seen before and the atmosphere in both rooms was great with all the troupes clapping each other and showing support too all the sections

Well I have said enough now i think haha, Good Luck with all your routines and i will see you for the Classic Championships.

hi all a massive thank u for another fab weekend, all troupes were amazing. and the preformances wer superb.big thank u to gbbta for all the hard work u put into ur comps and also foor the lovely wee gifts u gave trainers much appreciated.

a massive well dun to edinburgh for what we scooped between the 3 troupes.so u dun scotland proud again. ive got a really sore throat now and not much of a voice left lol.

lastly i would like to say i am the proudest trainer in the world, never in a million yrs did i expect lbt to win 29 times ,honestly no words can say how happy i am, from the bbys to the juniors u all dun amazing, every single one of u . also thanks to the parents for all the support thro this wkend , guys the 6days a week trainin paid off but bk to 2days now ok guys lol i need a holidays now to recover lol. all my leadera and mascots dun amazing and the sections dun fab.

a big well dun to wee ellie from the bby section who only got put in my dances on friday and u scooped the mascots places well dun hunni , u had a lot of pressure put on u but u dun it babes well dun . so lbt i love u so much well done nicola is over the moon for u all while shes living the high life in florida lol. and adeline finks u are outstanding.

Oh thats easy..... It was hardwork, busy but a FANTASTIC Weekend & I had a FAB time :-)

WELL DONE to ALL troupes who danced at the GBBTA GB Champs. The standard just gets better & better from Babies to Seniors at every comp! I've got to add that the sportmanship shown by ALL troupes around the arena was BRILL. I enjoyed all the sections that I judged on both days & also all the sections that I got to watch too!

i'm a new baton twirling coach started a troupe in Hartlepool (near Newcastle) Albert invited me down to watch the competition at Primrose Valley i really enjoyed the day all the troupes looked amazing - i used to twirl myself in Scotland and was a member of the SBTA - was great to see that twirling is still as popular now as it was when i used to twirl and the kids are still enjoying it - hope to see you all again soon hopefully with some of my girls - they have been training for just 3 weeks and i'm really impressed with them

Reali looking forward to the comp at Oldham on Sunday. Its my new teams first competition and we are reali excited about seeing everyone again and being back..

Good luck to my team...All our babies have only been twirling a few months and were reali proud of them..A big well done to Alex in our Senior Baton who had never picked up a baton til 6 months ago and has made it into our team.. I reali dont think she understands how well she has done and how she has amazed us all..Just shows with commitment dedication and obviously natural talent anything can be achieved.

Good luck to my leaders Emily and Chloe and mascot Shannon. Its a massive honour to have one of these places so be proud and keep strong.

Hi Albert + the GBBTA team i would just like to say a massive thank you on behalf of the Huddersfield Crusaders for inviting us to your comp + making us feel welcome, the event was brilliant + i hope that we will ba able to attend lots more in the near future.

Warren - well done for your display, all us lot really enjoyed it - u are really skilled with a baton (well 3 of them - lol)!!!

Anyways hopefully we will be dancing in your next comp in 2010, won't be at the Christmas one as i have other dance committments but hope all goes well, thanks again. x Sophie HC
